Unfortunately, that would stand out because it would be a big black shape against a normal background. What you need is something that appears exactly like the background and would change when the background changes. It needs to be more than camouflage because it needs to adapt to different places. At the moment, that is impractical though there have been some pretty convincing trials of a couple of technologies and I recently saw one talking about 'bending light' around an object to conceal it. The weakness of the present prototypes is that you can easily see the subterfuge if you change your position and look at the object from a different angle.
